Aidpage group discussing "financial aide"...

 in response to smmrbrze...

Generally speaking grant programs are supposed to be free.  I have seen a few that charge money as an "application" fee - and those I really don't consider legitimate grant programs.

Grant programs in general do not charge you anything to apply for them.  What you are talking (and posting) about are third-party sites where they are asking / charging you money because they are asking you to pay for the work that they did finding the information.  This is a step that you can do yourself by just being able to find the information yourself.  Government grant programs are listed for free on the official government website.  You see since grant programs are paid for with taxpayer money the government has to make that information "freely accessible to the public" which they do via their website and they also provide the information in printed form which you should be able to find at your local public library.  While the government grant program website has its complications they still do not charge you to apply for their grant programs.  You will have to go through their official process of applying online though.

Also too you have to realize that it is not only the government that has grant programs.  Other entities such as organizations, foundations and even some businesses and private individuals have grant programs as well.  THEY aren't required to make their information "freely accessible to the public" but of course they would like as many people as possible to know about their grant programs because the more that apply for them - the better.

It really all depends on the TYPE of grant programs that you are looking for.

Aidpage group discussing "financial aide"...

my question is probably not unique, but, i still haven't found an answer.

are there any grant prgrams (besides colleges)that are absolutely free, and the ones that say free but then says "only $2.90" for shipping here, or "just $40..there just to give us the sites that we already ready know is almost impossible to get a grant from?

are there any free grant programs that are out there to help us that really need it?

About sakwe

my name is simon. I am from cameroon, Africa. And a business management student.

I just wrote a book entitled maximizing your opportunities. When i wrote the book, i gave it to the printing press and some money to do the printing (it was 80 pages word document) but while printing the book it was 120 pages.

I had borrowed money some money from friends some creditors to print the book as the demand is high which was for thee 80pages  print, but when the  pages exceeded, the amount increased to 100,000FCFA, which is approxomately $250. The book is still in the press, lying there without money to complete. At the  same time my creditors are on my neck demanding their money back for which i do not have now, which is why am asking for aide to complete this book.

I have invested my all to this book. Even to eat now is difficult, and to complete my fees now is difficult as i expected money from this book to do all that. The money i am pleading for is the $250. Please help me and the others whose life will be transformed by the book. It is really difficult for me now.

Thanks for understanding, and remain blessed

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

About Loree

My name is Loree, I'm a 58 year old woman with copd, congestive heart failure and am in stage 3 kidney failure.  I'm married and have been for years, to a wonderful hard working man.  That's one of the problems.  In the USA if your married there isn't a lot of finanial help for people.  We do have insurance that does take care of 80% of our medical bills.  But that other 20% can be a crippling killer when you don't have it.  My husband is one of the hardest working men I know, and yet our medical bills are so extensive.  In todays market we aren't even lower middle class but rather upper poverty.  I'm not sure what has happened in America, but am sure that there are others out there facing the same financial crisis that we are.  Help would be wonderful, we could certainly use some.

About Ozarksgirl

I am a 23 year old college student.  In 2004 my father divorced my disabled mother leaving us with nothing.  I have been struggling to support myself and my mother while trying to continue my education.  My mother and I have been denied health insurance or any government assistance.  Our medical debt has me practically drowning in bills.  The last few years I have been very sick myself suffering from large ovarian cysts that have left large amounts of scar tissue on several organs.  I work over full time but at the moment i'm only able to pay for rent and late fees leaving all my bills quickly accumulating.  I have applied for 3 loans recently and have been denied due to the large amount of medical debt.  I only have 9 classes left before I can obtain my BA.  I have managed to work and go to school both full time.  My grades are excellent ranging from 3.5 to 4.0 semesters.  I have lost my scholarship because of the time it has taken me to graduate.  Because of my circumstances I have to work and i'm not able to take overload semesters to graduate on time.  I'm trying desperately not to lose hope but I fear that I may not be able to go back to school.  My university has exhausted all funds for scholarships for freshman and transfer students leaving nothing for currently attending students.  Any ideas that would help me get back on my feet and back to school would be appreciated more than you know. My email address is faith16_2003@msn.com

My Reasons For Returning To School After 11 Years

My main objective for continuing my education is to be able to counsel children and adults in three basic fields. The first being children and adults with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities. I want to help them overcome their disability, boost their self-esteem, and give them a better sense of well being. The second is for counseling children and adults of separated/ divorced families to help them as parents be better more effective parents without intentionally placing their children in the middle of their indifferences. The third is aimed toward people with chronic pain. Using a non-drug enhanced pain relief by showing them how they can adjust their way of thinking therefore better dealing with their pain.
My concerns in regards to my three objectives are, firstly, there are quite a few children with learning disabilities that go undetected and untreated due to the fact that teachers and parents don’t know or don’t see the early warning signs that the child has. As a parent of a late diagnosed child, I know first hand how children get pushed along within the school system because teachers and myself as a parent didn’t differentiate the difference of struggling in school and actually have a diagnosed learning disability. Secondly, as a child of divorced parents and a divorced parent myself, I have seen how a parent or parents inhibit the action of placing their children against the other parent and how parents use their children as a playing piece against the other parent to intentionally hurt and/or manipulate them. Children shouldn’t be used as a object since their lives are already disrupted due to the separation or divorce. If a councilor was able to assist these families or just the children it could greatly cut down on the push me/ pull me lives that many children have. Lastly, as a person who suffers from chronic pain, I have had to endure many prescription drugs that just mask the pain or that don’t work at all. If given the opportunity to use a technique like this to help assist with the pain and try to overcome the chronic condition that I endure daily, I would be elated to do so. There are many people whom live with chronic pain that could greatly benefit from this.
Some important activities that I participate in are Star Catchers ( a reading program at my children’s elementary school) and Girl Scouts ( I have been my two daughter’s Girl Scout leader for four years now). An important development in my life is after being out of high school for eleven years I am willing and trying to go back to college to better educate myself and provide a better future for my 5 children.
My favorite authors and books range from Stephen King, “Tommy Knockers”, to Nicholas Sparks, “A Walk To Remember”. Stephen King‘s, “Tommy Knockers”, I like because of the suspense. He really makes you think about what is going to happen and to whom it is going to happen to. “Tommy Knockers” makes you really think about touching things that don’t belong to you and just how severe the consequences can be if you do. Nicholas Spark‘s, “A Walk To Remember” it shows you that when you love with all your heart, mind, body, and soul and you find that one special person in with whom you can have that, you are happy for all eternity.
I have chose the Virtual (online) residency because I am a mother of 5 children and I feel that if I am not readily available to them before school, after school, and in the evening to help them with homework, discuss their day, and tuck them into bed then I have not fulfilled my motherly duties to them. My youngest child is just a year old and I feel that my place is home with him, not with him in daycare all day. With virtual residency I am able to be home with my children and still work on my degree in psychology.

financial help

A local youth with various learning challenges has been accepted to a special school that provides training and experience in an area of this youth's passion and talents... snowboarding. As a result of the application process alone this boy worked harder at school this passed year and acheived 2 semesters on the Honor Role. He is a "kinesthetically gifted" young man who, when motivated, can acheive great things. He is learning challenged especially within traditional education settings and this would be a tremendous opportunity for him to excell. His family needs $11,000 to send him to this school next year.
